“I would rather you play the wrong note very loud than the right note very soft." - Louis Andriessen Today, on July 1st 2021 one of the Netherlands' greatest composers has passed away: Louis Andriessen. As the leading Dutch composer of the contemporary era, Louis always has been an inspiration from my study time at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and beyond. As a saxophone player in an environment like that, almost literally spoon-fed with the legacy of the 'The Hague School', I'm extremely glad that I was introduced with him and his music from an early age. I want to thank him for his great music, his charisma and the wonderful students he educated, so there's still a lot of new music to discover through which his voice resounds.
